Who We Are
“For over 16 years we have provided exceptional care and had lots of fun along the way!”
- Leeanne
Funded by Health and Social Care since 2009, Team Grant has supported Grant and his family in their home, in hospital and in the community. Grant has a number of health issues which means he requires support with all activities of daily living throughout the day and night.
“I know I’m biased, but he is just the bravest, most resilient boy in the Shire”
- Elaine
(Grants Mum)
“Grasping opportunities when he is well, we support Grant to live his best life. Our aim is to walk alongside him, follow his lead and let him show us the way forward. It has been a pleasure to be part of this incredible young man’s “journey” for the last 8 years”
- Donna
At present we are a team of 12 from all walks of life, ages and experiences. All training is provided, so experience in the care/support sector is not necessary.
“Being part of Team Grant is amazing. I have been alongside this wee guy for 16 years, through the good times and the tough stuff. It’s a privilege to be part of his life. Can’t think of a job that compares.”
- Aidan
We’re always up to something…
Being In Step with Grant!
“We want Grant to expand his horizons like any other young adult who has left school. He loves an adventure and a new challenge. When Grant is well enough, we must be ready to dive in.
I work full time with Grant and have been with him for 10 years. It’s been a privilege to take the lead on planning for life after school. We don’t want Grants life to be routine, but it can’t lack structure either. We have developed a great philosophy for this: ensuring Grant has an Adventurous and Fulfilled Future. We call this GAFF for short!” - Kay
“Creating meaningful work opportunities that have a real sense of purpose and responsibility for Grant, takes preparation on our part. I have been working with Grant for just over a year and I have loved being part of his Team Meetings where we plan what's next”
— Fraser
Many hands…
“Grant requires the support of two team members, so we work in pairs during the day and at night. Our rotas are issued 8 weeks in advance, but we are flexible and respond to his family’s needs: holidays, appointments, etc.. I work part time for Grant around my own childcare.”
- Lea-Anne
