Look for a book

It all started with a book in some carrots…

A young man in a bright green sports jacket bends slightly and smiles while leaning over a park bench. On the bench is a colorful plastic bag with a red circular logo and the words 'Big Red Band' printed on it. The park has a grassy area with small yellow flowers, a paved walkway, and a row of black lampposts. In the background, grey clouds are visible over a distant shoreline with a few cars parked and small buildings.

Be Part of Something Bigger

In September 2019 Grant was out shopping at Tescos in Kilmarnock and hidden amongst the carrots was a cool children’s book. Someone had hidden it there to be found.

He was absolutely delighted to have found this book and very quickly Grant and his team launched “Look for a Book - West Kilbride”.

Grant had so many books that sharing the ones he's finished with seemed like a really natural thing to do. We also recognise that some children don’t have access to books, so finding one may brighten someone’s day.

Finding new places to hide his books combines Grant’s love of outdoor spaces and exploring new places.

“Grant spends lots of time prepping books to be hidden. He individually signs - with his fingerprint - every letter that gets enclosed with the book in a waterproof bag.”

- Fraser

All over the world…

We don’t always know where books end up: it’s entirely optional for people to post on his Facebook page and let us know they have found them. Some of Grants books have ended up in very exotic locations -Trevi Fountain in Rome, the famous “Red Phone Box” in Barga, La Segrada Familia in Barcelona and the Royal Tomb of Petra to name but a few. The possibilities are endless!

Visible are a tree in the foreground, a crowd of people walking past, a silver car, and the Sagrada Familia cathedral with its distinctive spires and intricate facade in the background. A construction crane is also visible near the cathedral.
